All Forest Camps through Valley Forest School are led by Outdoor Educators who have been through rigorous training and are well educated on the topics of camp. ​
​
Camps are from 9-2:30 (exception for Fishing Camp)
If you have a child ages 3-5, you can pick up at 1 for a discount of $30. This will be an option when you sign up.

June 1-3- Fishing Camp
Time: 9 am- 3:30 pm
Location: Various locations around Roanoke such as Smith Mountain Lake, Roanoke River, and Carvins Cove(schedule will be sent to enrolled students)
Ages 7-12- $265
Because of the longer day and nature of fishing, Fishing Camp students must be at least 7 years old to participate.
Fishing camp covers a variety of techniques and fishing styles at some of the best fishing spots in the valley. Campers will learn the basics of fishing and fishing safety. As they fish in the lakes or ponds from either a kayak/canoe or from the dock, they'll learn what bait to use, technique, and will be sure to catch some fish. There's always time for swimming between fishing!
June 8-10- Wildcraft Camp
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $200
Ages 3-5- $155 (June 8 and 10 only)
Wildcraft Camp is for children who are interested in creating handcrafted useful objects for everyday use. Handicrafts included during camp include weaving, whittling/knife skills, candle making, leather crafting, and crafts with foraged plants.

June 15-18- Survival Camp
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $270
Ages 3-5- $155 (June 15 and 17 only)
Survival Camp is for those who thrive in the outdoors and want to expand their knowledge of how to survive in an outdoor setting. Children will learn how to build a shelter, use a compass and map, filter water, build a fire, forage for food, basic first aid, and many more practical skills. It's a balance of challenge, fun, and adventure.

June 22-25- Nature Engineering
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $265
Ages 3-5- $155 (June 22 and 24 only)
Nature Engineering Camp is for those who want to use their hands to build BIG! From building forts to pulley systems, this is for those who want to work together as a team to create something that can be used for fun at forest school.

June 29-July 1- Games of the Forest Camp
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $190
Ages 3-5- $145(June 29 and July 21only)
Games of the forest is packed full of camp-style games that teach teamwork and cooperation. Think along the lines of relay races, scavenger hunts, capture the flag, balloon baseball, water-based games, and many other games alongside camp friends both old and new.

July 6-8- Herbalist Camp
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $200
Ages 3-5- $155(July 6 and 8 only)
Young Herbalist Camp is for those who love using their creative side to make their own traditional remedies for basic ailments and general good health. Children will learn about the basics of using foraged herbs for good health, foraging techniques, plant identification, the importance of knowing what herbs are safe, and get hands on through mixing and blending their own herbs. At the end of the week, they'll bring home their own handmade set of herbal remedies.

July 13-16- Bushcraft Camp
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $270
Ages 3-5- $155 (July 13 and 15 only)
Bushcraft Camp is about being one with the land- just just surviving on it. From tracking animals, tanning hides, and using foraged foods in meals, attending this camp is a sure way to feel connected to our local environment in a meaningful and purposeful way.

July 20-23- Survival Camp
Location: Various locations around the Roanoke area within a 30 minute drive(schedule will be sent to enrolled students)
Ages 6-12- $270
Ages 3-5- $160 (July 20 and 22 only)

July 27-30- Forest School Camp
Location: Valley Forest School Catawba
Ages 6-12- $250
Ages 3-5- $140 (July 27 and 29 only)
A 4 day forest school crash course! Learn many of the basics we cover during the school year in just one week such as foraging, nature journaling, whittling, and fire building.​​
