FOREST SCHOOL CO-OP
Forest Co-Op is designed to enhance the holistic homeschooling experience for children ages 6-12. This forest school style co-op introduces unique skills each semester, while also spending a large part of the day in hands-on nature study and outdoor play with other children.
100% of the children's time is spent learning outdoors.
Co-Op is on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 9-2:30 and is a drop off program. Children may attend 1, 2, or 3 days.
Nature study and forest exploration is a part of every co-op class. Nature study topics include plant identification, weather patterns, foraging, insect identification and observation, rock study, animal tracks, birding, flower identification, ecological biodiversity, and environmental stewardship.
Two weeks of each month are "field trip" weeks to local natural areas to study a large variety of local ecology. Field trips include hiking, bike riding, canoeing, rock climbing, and farm visits. Most field trips costs are included in tuition with the exception of a small additional fee for rock climbing and water sports. A calendar of dates and locations is given to parents of students. Drop off and pick up is at the field trip location these weeks.
